What does the new testament say makes you a christian?
Are you following all of the new testament scriptures?
“Every scripture is divinely inspired, and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of god may be complete, fully fitted for every good work” –
ii timothy 3:16-17(kjv)
Do you know if you are missing the scriptures that you need to know to make you a complete man or woman of god and fully fitted for every good work?
We know one of the main purposes of the Bible from the Scripture above – For Divinely Inspired Teaching, Conviction, Correction and Instruction in Righteousness. There is a lot to learn to be a complete Christian. But God wants us to be complete so He gave us His Inspired Spiritual Instruction Manual, The Holy Bible, to show us how to be complete and fully fitted for every good work. Are you a non-believer who doesn’t understand Christianity? Or if you believe in Jesus Christ, do you trust that someone else is teaching you every scripture in the New Testament to make you a complete man or woman of God? Are you following traditional or denominational Christian teachings? Are your traditional or denominational teachings following all of the Scriptures? The New Testament tell us in Philippians 2:12 (ASV) to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” Whose teachings are you relying on for your salvation – God’s Inspired Word or man’s traditional teachings?
Scripture tells us in II Timothy 2:15 (KJV), “study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”. There are many New Testament Scriptures that teach the amazing rewards for studying and living by God’s Word, but also many that give notice of the repercussions for ignoring God’s Word. In Matthew 11:28 (YLT) Jesus tells us, “take up my yoke upon you, and learn from me, because I am meek and humble in heart, and ye shall find rest to your souls”. Rest for your soul sounds good, doesn’t it? Have you really found true rest in today’s world? If not, it’s time to learn how to truly find rest and everything else Jesus offers us, including knowing Him personally, through His teachings in the New Testament Scriptures.
Jesus teaches us so many things, and He even teaches us a way to help make studying and understanding His teachings a lot easier. In John 14:26 (YLT), Jesus says “and the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and remind you of all the things that I said to you.” The Apostle Paul teaches in I Corinthians 2:12-13 (DARBY), “But *we* have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which [is] of God, that we may know the things that have been freely given to us of God: which also we speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, communicating spiritual [things] by spiritual [means]. “ Paul then gives a word of cautionary insight about what happens to those who don’t receive the Holy Spirit in I Corinthians 2:14 (DARBY): “But [the] natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him; and he cannot know [them] because they are spiritually discerned”. Are you naturally discerning or spiritually discerning? How can you be sure if you have not studied and applied to your life all of the teachings of the New Testament? Do you understand what Romans 8:2 (ASV) means when the Scripture says “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and death”? Do you want to see all the other Scriptures related to this one that really help you to understand what a gift we were given by Jesus, not only by His death and resurrection providing us eternal salvation, but by the law of the Spirit of Life in Him that we can apply to our lives while we are here on earth? Do you want to know if you really have the Holy Spirit in you or not?
